Ready, Steady, GO: Black Friday hits the UK

Get your diaries out ladies and put a big red cross on November 29th. Why? Because there’s a very special retail event making its way to the to UK.

Let me introduce you to Black Friday. A magical American tradition that is crossing the pond and being adopted by some prominent UK retailers. The retail phenomenon has been part of the Thanksgiving come down for years in the US and gives shoppers a chance to get their hands on a huge range of products with massive discounts. Sounds like a dream? Here’s a run down of  our favourite participants.

Amazon opened the door to Black Friday years ago and they have been spoiling us Brits with a slice of this ‘American pie’ since 2010. Giving you the chance to get your hands on some of the most desirable products on the market for a bargain price, Amazon don’t just segregate the deals to one day but shower us with deals throughout the week in the run up to Black Friday. This year Amazon are offering everything from jewelry to games consoles, through over 2,000 lightning deals that are limited by time and quantity. So get over to Amazon.co.uk, have a look at what’s up for grabs this year and get your credit cards at the ready.

Other UK retailers following suit include Asda, who will have over 3,000 deals on electrical prodcuts, toys, games and homeware both in-store and online. These deals are not restricted to one day but spread over the month before Christmas so keep your eyes peeled!

For all your tech junkies, Black Friday will give you the chance to get Apple goods with 20% off many of their iconic iPads and laptops whilst John Lewis will be taking part in their second Black Friday promotion. Although they are yet to say exactly what will be on offer, last year saw deals on a fantastic array of electrical and home items.

If clothes, shoes and accessories are your bag then Debenhams is the one for you. They’ll be joining the Black Friday bunch, wooing fashionistas with discounted designer goods and the chance to get up to 25% off womenswear, menswear and much, much more.

Black Friday is the perfect time to grab some amazing gifts for your loved ones and save yourself a few quid in the process. I’ve got my fingers crossed this US tradition catches on and we’ll see other UK retailers flocking to be part of the shopping frenzy. Just remember this Friday November 29th, credit cards on standby to nab those crazy deals!
